Catch The Spirit of Alaska

2023 Itinerary

If you’re in Anchorage, don’t miss this tour/ cruise combination that includes: a visit to Alaska’s wildlife reserve also known as The Alaska Wild Conservation Center, a cruise at  portage glacier lake tour.

The tour starts once we pick you up from your hotel and head out towards the scenic Seward Highway and zig zagging along the Turnagain Arm.  You w’ll see the breathtaking beauty of Cook Bay and the Chugach State Park mountains.  It’s a stunning route where you can witness Alaska’s spectacular range of nature, including green forests, blue skies, seas, clear waters of numerous rivers, snow and glaciers.

Upon arrival to Lake Portage, you ’ll take a one hour cruise, considered by many to be the most extraordinary 60 minutes of their visit to Alaska. With any luck,  you will witness glacial ice sheets falling into the lake.

From a distance and during this tour, you can also appreciate how global warming is affecting these areas, especially for glaciers that have been preserved for hundreds of years but now are quickly thawing and retreating, giving rise to lakes such as this beautiful “Portage Glacier Lake.”

Afterwards,  you will visit Alaska’s wildlife conservation center, which has animals, most of which were rescued, in captivity and rehabilitation.  At the conservation center, you will see coyotes, foxes, wolves, black bears, grizzly bears, caribou, moose, red deer, arctic muskoxen, American bison and bald eagles (the national bird).

Then you will return to Anchorage, where you adventure today will finish.

Please allow up to 6 hours round trip from Anchorage for this tour. Trip operates May 18 – September 15.
