The Grand Tour of Anchorage. We’ll start our visit to Anchorage with a tour in the heart of the city. Together we’ll explore our city’s hotspots and its most significant and historical places and attractions.
We’ll discuss the history, traditions and culture that make up this metropolitan city, we will drive by the eye-catching gift shops ready for you free time so you can take home a keepsake of the “Last Frontier.”
We’ll visit key and highlights areas in Anchorage that make it a one-of-a-kind city. We’ll visit the busiest area, 4th and 5th avenues, which have won over visitors to Anchorage. These avenues, in addition to their beauty, define our city and are historically rich. We’ll also see other unique spots such as Ship Creek, the only river in a modern city that has five different types of salmon species in a downtown metro area.
We’ll also get to know the key role of transportation in the development and progress of Anchorage, as well as Lake Hood, where the largest seaplane base in the world is located (in terms of number of aircraft). We’ll visit the “Earthquake Park” neighborhood, with its memories of the destruction during and after the 1964 earthquake. To wrap up, we’ll get up close to a U.S. air force base and see one of the jets that protect the state and its airspace. Historically, Alaska is considered a strategic defensive point since the First Woorld War, and also during recent global conflicts.
