During spring and summer, visitors can often witness the rehabilitation of orphaned baby animals of various species.
After a fascinating visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, where you get up close with Alaska’s iconic wildlife, you’ll take a scenic drive to Girdwood, a charming mountain town nestled in the stunning Chugach Mountains.

Once in Girdwood, you’ll board the Alyeska Tram, which carries you up to the top of Alyeska Mountain. The ride offers breathtaking views of glaciers, sprawling valleys, and the shimmering Turnagain Arm below. At the summit, you’ll have time to savor the fresh alpine air before heading back down to Girdwood for a light lunch at one of the cozy local eateries, where the flavors are as warm as the hospitality. Afterward, you’ll take a drive back to downtown Anchorage, ending your tour and feeling like you’ve experienced a perfect day of Alaska’s natural beauty and small-town charm.
